How to know if your website has been blacklisted by Google

4 December 2008 3 Comments

For many website owners the question never ceases to leave one’s mind if their website has been penalized by Google for spamming or some other sort of penalties related to not following Google’s web master quality guidelines. So how do you know for sure if your website has been banned or blacklisted by Google?

1.) Check to see if your website has any pages indexed in Google. If your website at one point was ranking well in the Google search engine result pages and all of the sudden dropped out, you should be aware that there may be potential quality penalties tacked on to your website if you all the sudden have no pages indexed in Google. How do you go about checking your websites indexing status? Simply place the following into the Google search box replacing mycompany.com with your website.

(site:http://www.mycompany.com). If no results are shown your website is either in its early development stage or it has been removed from Google’s index for violating its webmasters quality guidelines.

2.) Create a Free Google, Web Masters tools account. According to Google celebrity, Matt Cutts, Google will deliver messages to you on your dashboard letting you know of these potential penalties and how to resubmit your website for reconsideration.

Has your website simply just lost placement from a position where it was at one time relevant and maintaining high rankings? Do not fear.. Google changes daily and so do your competition.

Your website might only need a bit more link love or perhaps a refresh, but chances are you are just caught up in the daily changes of Google and will see your website back in no time if you are following Google’s quality guidelines.

    This clarifies things for me.
